Irfan Shahmiri - President & Executive Director

After spending around two decades in corporate America as an IT professional, Irfan left his job at Microsoft in January of 2011 to focus full time on Child Nurture And Relief (CHINAR). Previously, Irfan worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq, HP, and Fannie Mae in various capacities including technical sales, engineering, consulting and management.

In 2003, Irfan co-founded CHINAR in the USA, and during the last 2 years, Irfan has focused on organizational capacity building, collaborations and partnerships that should help in furthering CHINAR's mission. Irfan is based in northern Virginia, but works full time on CHINAR and spends most of his time in India.

Yassar Shah - Director ProgramsCHINAR International, Srinagar

Yassar Shah has a wide range of experience both in social sector and corporate sector. He holds a bachelor's degree in environmental sciences and water management, and has diplomas in software. Yassar is passionate about the social sector with a special focus on improving the quality of the lives of the marginalized sections of the society. Earlier he worked as Program Officer for Communications with Centre for Law and as Program Manager (Economic Development) at Mercy Corps (Kashmir).

Besides managing Programs, Yassar is also Director at CHINAR India, and manages finance and fund raising in India.

Javeed Ahmed - Project/Finance Coordinator

Before joining CHINAR International, Javeed tried several options to realize his potential as a key player in challenging, dynamic and creative environment, and he believes his quest completes at CHINAR. Javeed completed his master's degree in finance and control from University of Kashmir. He also has hands on experience in financial auditing.

Salma Ashai - Project Coordinator
CHINAR International, Srinagar

Salma specializes in the empowerment of people who have been marginalized by natural and manmade disasters, with a special focus on the gender aspects. She holds a master's degree in social work from Indira Gandhi National Open University. She has always been interested in working with children, and her biggest strength is her ability to connect with children, who feel instantly comfortable with her.

Anjum Mir - Project Coordinator
CHINAR International, Srinagar

A trained social worker, Anjum aims to work towards the interest of the community to ensure vulnerable citizens receive protection and care with due regard to human values. She completed her masters in social work from University of Kashmir. She is also a certified Disaster Management trainee. Anjum has worked with many non-governmental Organizations, such as ANHAD, KOSHISH to name a few. A former RTI activist, Anjum worked as a project officer at the NCLP before joining CHINAR International.

Afifa Lone - Project Coordinator
CHINAR International, Srinagar

Having completed a masterís degree in social work, Afifa has done practical work on important issues like drug addiction, reproductive and child health, thus gaining expertise in primary methods of social work. She worked was an intern at Independent Thought, a national human Rights organization, where her work was mainly focused on child rights and child protection. Previously, she was working as a Research Associate on an Indian Council of Medical Research-funded project on autism. She also volunteers as Counseling Supportive Supervisor for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Counseling Program.

Mir Atif - Project Coordinator
CHINAR International, Srinagar

Mir Atif has a bachelorís degree in humanities (functional english), and a masterís degree in finance and controls specializing in risk management. His three years of work experience include two years at JP Morgan Chase Mumbai in Credit Risk MO as an analyst. Focused on efficient and effective work, Atif is driven by innovation and integrity.

Ajaz Bin Shabir - Assistant Project Coordinator
CHINAR International, Srinagar

Ajaz completed his bachelorís degree in computer applications from University of Kashmir and is currently pursuing a master's in social work. He has worked as Manager in General in Saleha Al Wadani Group, a medical product company in Saudi Arabia.

Mehreen Khan - Project/Finance Coordinator
CHINAR India, New Delhi

Mehreen has completed her master's in finance and control from University of Kashmir, and is dedicated to the cause of working for the underprivileged. She previously worked with an NGO called Centre For Social Justice, also interned with the Reserve Bank Of India.

Roauf Khanday - Assistant Project Coordinator

Roauf is passionate about helping the rural and needy sections of society. He wants to help people by being good listener and encourage people to reach their potential and maximize their strength.

Roauf Khanday holds a bachelor's degree and diplomas in computer software. Presently he is pursuing masters in social work.

Sheikh Shakeel - Field Officer

Sheikh Shakeel completed his senior secondary schooling in commerce from J & K Board and is currently pursuing a bachelor's in social work. Shakeel loves to work in a challenging and friendly environment where his dedication and efforts will play a role in contributing to the growth of the organization. He loves to meet and interact with people, respects human values and relations.

Yasmeen Khan Durrani - Counseler
CHINAR International, Srinagar

Presently based in Srinagar, Kashmir, Yasmeen holds various degrees, Masters in Education, Bachelors of Education and a Diploma in Psychology from Kashmir University. Teaching is her passion and social work her craze. She has held various positions in education sector as instructor, counselor and principal; across cultures as varied as UAE, Australia and Kashmir with zeal and zest. Yasmeen is a philanthropist, trust in service of mankind and humanity Now ,she wants to further strengthen her knowledge and skill by devoting her time in this field.Yasmeen is currently working as counselor with CHINAR International.
